Our Compact-Space Approach

WhizFunBalcony was founded to challenge a pervasive design myth: that an outdoor area is only worth caring about if it resembles a sprawling villa terrace. In growing metropolitan centers, millions of people live with three to six square meters of outdoor concrete—and those meters matter immensely.

A balcony is an emotional escape valve. Having a reliable spot to drink morning coffee, watch evening clouds, or tend three pots of basil directly enhances everyday well-being.

Our Core Design Tenets

1. Usable Footprint First We measure success by how easily you can stand up, move around, and breathe—not how many decorative objects you can squeeze onto a table.
2. Total Reversibility Renters make up the majority of compact-balcony occupants. Every layout we champion can be disassembled in a single afternoon without forfeiting a deposit.
3. Weather Honesty We never recommend plush indoor velvet pillows or untreated raw woods for exposed exterior environments. Outdoor spaces must withstand rain, sun, and frost.

Who We Are

We are a small collective of landscape designers, architectural draftsmen, and enthusiastic urban apartment dwellers based in London and Berlin. Over the past decade, we have lived through cramped studio flats, narrow Juliet balconies, drafty high-rise wind tunnels, and strict landlord inspections.

We do not produce advertorial puff-pieces for flimsy flat-pack furniture. Our guidelines, measurement formulas, and plant recommendations are field-tested in authentic city conditions.
